{then and now}

After going live with our new website yesterday, we were all hit with a moment of nostalgia. 5 minutes around the coffee pot reflecting on the past 12 years and how far we have come turned into scouring our files for the past. I have to admit it is almost as embarrassing as showing your boy friend that  " awkward baby photo" or your friends posting the hideous 7th grade pic on facebook - nice hair!!! We wont go into the gory details of all of the blood, sweat and tears that  inkSpotts has brought to us. Instead we will embrace this wild and crazy road that we have been on and simply celebrate how far we have come.

{inspiration everywhere!}

Yesterday while I was meeting an old friend for coffee, I came back from using the bathroom, grabbed my phone and scooted back into the room that I had just come from. My friend gave me an odd glance. As I returned again to the table, I nonchalantly picked up my mug by the handle, took a sip of cappuccino and shrugged, "there was a pretty plate in there." 

She left out a chuckle and said "only a designer!" 

The compass on this beautiful little plate was the missing link to the map that I had been working on for my Vintage Travel Wedding packet. I am putting the final details on everything today and can't wait to share it all with you, but for now here is am early glance of what is to come. 

Yes, as my friend said, only a designer would find inspiration everywhere - even in the bathroom! 

{sometimes you have it...}

Sometimes the design process can linger on for  days, weeks or even months, tweaking  illustrations, color, layout and concepts.  And then, some days like this morning, it all just magically falls into place.

 

Check out this cuteness. As they say here in the south "I just want to love on her".  When I knew that this invitation proof had to go out first thing this morning, I knew that I had a slew of invitations that would be well suited for a one year old party in the archives somewhere. I just didn't realize how much this particular one would work until I plugged in the picture. I didn't adjust a thing! I added the personalization and it was good to go. I guess when you have been friends with your client for as long as we have been friends, your creative minds naturally think alike and everything just falls into place. 

It's a good way to start off the week.

This is my favorite spot on a rainy fall day!  {We took an envelope that was written to my Grandmother, from my Grandfather in WWII and had it printed on the canvas slip cover.} Add pumpkin spiced coffee and the Mumford and Sons new album = perfection. Let the creativity flow!

Did somebody say Christmas?

This week is filled with design projects for just about everything. Here are just a few of the things that we are working on so far. We have finally come to the realization that Christmas just doesn't seem to end around here. Thank goodness for a cool, rainy summer morning - just perfect for that second cup of coffee and visions of sugar plums dancing in our heads!

looking back to summer

summer is officially over and we are busting right into fall and all of it's festivities! next thing you know, the holidays will be upon us! (get ready because we have some fun surprises for you!) but for now, summer is in the not so distant past. hold onto the simple, sweet, warm memories.

VACATION! There is nothing like seeing the beach for first time through the eyes of a one year old. A few days on the shore with good friends and an adventurous 19 month old is the perfect recipe for some much needed relaxation and rejuvenation! Happy Weekend!!

friday photo, or maybe we should call it our "saturday snapshot"

we've been so busy the past two weeks, packing, traveling, meeting submission deadlines, working on projects, and setting up our satellite studio that we have not been keeping up with our friday photos. as this week's pic reminds us; we all need to stop and enjoy a quiet moment. we hope to be doing a lot more of that in the upcoming weeks as we spend the rest of the summer, on the farm in lancaster co. pa! don't worry - we'll be sure to keep up with our weekly photos and we''ll hopefully get a lot of inspiration for new designs and fun things to share with you soon!

why this photo?

here in atlanta, what we wouldn't do for a day like january 12 right now! we are hoping this brings a little cool breeze to wherever you are this morning.

another reason for this particular photo, it happens to be the photo that we used on the holiday card that was accepted into Shutterfly's Holiday 2011 line. we can't reveal what the card looks like so be sure to check their website soon!
