{Día de Muertos}

I love it when my creative juices are pushed the limit and I must think outside my comfort zone. The upcoming ZaPow member artist group show "Día de Muertos" certainly did just that. For this piece, I went back to the basics.  No editing in photoshop, tweaking in illustrator. Just me, the pen, paper and a whole lot of mexican food for inspiration! It could be worse, right? I'm kinda sad to see it end.

The show opens Saturday October 5, 2013 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM EDT at ZaPow 21 Battery Park Ave Suite 101 Asheville, NC 28801. Live music and local brew.

{Ashlandia}

Friday is the Art Reception at the Zapow Gallery for:
Postcards from Asheville, an exhibition of artwork inspired by Asheville.
We are getting things packed and sending them to the fabulous Lauren, who makes it all happen.  Check back all this week to see what all we have created just for this show. We will also be dedicating our blog to everything Asheville and kicking off summer with a good old road trip!

 Here is a little look at something that is already on route.

{gallery weekend}

The weekend could not have been more perfect! Snow, art, good food, good drinks, and old friends (and by old I mean High School friends, not saying anything about our age!) Because really, isn't that what Asheville is all about? Did I mention the snow? It was like were living in a snow globe the entire weekend - I finally got my little taste of winter.
Anyway, thanks to Lauren at Zapow for not only reaching out to me to showcase my illustrations in her great gallery in downtown. Thanks also for all of your installation expertise and gallery wisdom. Since this is the first time that I have done anything in this realm with my work, all of your help was greatly appreciated.  Your enthusiasm is contagious!

Check out some of the pics from the weekend and next time you are in Asheville be sure to stop by and check it out!

{up all night}

{up all night}
i so wish this was me right now, cuddled up in bed under the starts with a warm cup of hot cocoa. "up all night" is the next illustration in my "eliza" series. it pretty much depicts life these days with the now three year old. with her side kicks lottie and sheepy  on each arm and the stars twinkling over head, our dreams would be filled with snow kissed fields if only there was sleep to be had in our house these days. i am just excited that something creative actually came out of all of these long sleepless nights! i am thinking that this one just make the cut to take to Asheville. with only a few shorts weeks until we join the crew at Zapow Gallery, i better start getting serious about that list.
here's to more sleep, more snow and more creative filled days!!!

available now on a canvas or print at our etsy store

{Lets take this little show on the road...ASHEVILLE OR BUST!}

{new places - part 1}

Lets take this little show on the road...ASHEVILLE OR BUST!

Ever since I went on a sister's vacation eons ago, I have had special in place in my heart for Asheville, North Carolina.  Whenever I have the chance to slip away for a weekend I jump on the opportunity. I love the culture mixed in with the natural beauty. I love everything from the endless outdoor activities, to the craft breweries,  the great food scene,  shopping, the best little coffee house or should i say double decker bus and the incredible art scene! I pretty much love everything about it but that monster hill at mile 13 in the half marathon that still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Seriously, I think I left a little bit of my soul on that street corner.  But otherwise, you get the point - I love Asheville!!!!

So, when Lauren from Zapow in downtown Aville asked me to join the artists in her gallery, you can imagine the reaction that I had. I think I may have landed on the moon. This year's New Years resolution in the Bowman house is our  new motto,  "going back to our roots". For inkSpotts, that means going back to where it all began - illustration. I am so excited to start putting my collection together. The licensing world is great, but can be very limiting. I am eager to explore the endless creative possibilities. Don't worry, I will be sure to share everything along the way. (whether you want me to or not.)
